Members of the UCU at London Metropolitan University (LMU) have voted overwhelmingly in favour of strike action and 'action short of a strike' in their ongoing fight against at least 550 jobs that are at risk.

Union reaction to higher education talks

The higher education unions - the University and College Union (UCU), EIS, GMB, UNISON and Unite - today unanimously rejected a 'derisory' pay offer from the national employers of just 0.3%.

Following an earlier employers' ultimatum of 'jobs or a pay increase', the unions pushed for a national agreement on job security. The national negotiating meeting saw constructive dialogue on possible joint work on issues such as the gender pay gap, work life balance and improvements in missing pay and workforce data.
